This is a grant funded position through June 30, 2025Renewal is on an annual basis, however it is not guaranteed.

Under direction of the Los Angeles Regional Consortium (LARC) Chair/Assistant Vice President and in support of the LARC 19 colleges, the Job Developer will develop, locate and actively refer students to employment positions across Los Angeles county.




EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

1. Identifies and locates current and prospective job openings.

2. Negotiates contracts, develops jobs, supervises placements, maintains records and prepares reports.

3. Participates in placement, and follow-up of students in part-time and full-time employment.

4. Makes contact with employers to assure that they are knowledgeable about programs and services.

5. Maintains a current listing of available jobs.

6. Maintains a close effective working relationship with faculty, College Work Study Coordinator, Employment Specialist, and appropriate community resource personnel.

7. Articulates needs of employers to students and appropriate college personnel.

8. Assists in the development of off-campus Federal Work Study opportunities.

9. Prepares required reports in a timely manner.

10. Coordinates annual Job Fair.

11. Develops and maintains a listing of community service opportunities.

12. At the request of a supervisor, performs a variety of unscheduled duties normally and traditionally performed by a Job Developer.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Two years of college education
  2. Three years of experience in a responsible position with workforce, vocational education, employment/personnel services, or other related programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience coordinating employment programs and establishing partnerships
  • Experience addressing employment equity gaps and fair labor advocacy

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Seeing to inspect written documents, communicate with District staff, sitting for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling and reaching to retrieve and file records, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and other office equipment.
